Mike started Power Center Consulting to utilize his 20+ years of Organizational Management, Process Engineering, and Project Management experience to help for-profit and non-profit businesses build organizational capacity to achieve strategic and financial goals.
Mike has broad experience with different types of organizations - from start-ups to large IT manufacturers and non-profits.
He helped companies launch new products and services, enter new markets, and improve revenues and profits during challenging economic times. As board chairperson, he helped a non-profit achieve the Non-Profit Standards of Excellence by working with board and staff members to document processes and implement new policies to breakthrough revenue and program plateaus.
Mike’s passion is improving organizations and processes to increase productivity by increasing efficiency and effectiveness. Through his experience and training, he recognized that one solution does not solve all problems and the key to developing solutions is engaging and listening to the team members’ needs and learning about the organization’s culture. Only then does it make sense to decide what needs to be improved and how to improve it.
Mike earned a Master of Science in Computer Science at Johns Hopkins and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at Loyola University Maryland. He also attended the Johns Hopkins Business School and is a Six-Sigma Black Belt.
Mike is a Lay Marianist and volunteers his time to Marianist ministries as a retreat leader, past chair of the MLC-NA, and supporting fundraising for many causes.
Mike also volunteers and supports social justice organizations, including the Public Justice Center that improves the lives of people who are marginalized by systemic injustice.
Our Core Values are important to us, our customers, our partners, and our community. We work to build long-term relationships and will not comprise our values for our self-interests.
Trust – The foundation of a healthy relationship and organization is trust. We work at “the speed of trust” and live up to our commitments. Clarity and transparency are important to us – in both directions.
Integrity - We model the way and do what is right for our customers, our community, and our world, even when it's not the easiest or popular thing to do.
Compassion - We care about people and we take the time to listen and understand without judgement or blame. If we are going to help, we first need to understand the root of the situation and create a compassionate response.
Respect - We treat others as equals; everyone in every situation has dignity. We treat others the way we want to be treated - courteously, honestly, and timely.
Community – We are all connected and part of workplace and world communities. When conflicts arise, communities work together to reconcile the issue and commit as one to move forward.
If you want to know where we’re coming from, we follow the principles of Patrick Lencioni (The Advantage: Why Organizational Health Trumps Everything Else in Business, Jim Collins (Good to Great, Great by Choice), and James Kouzes & Barry Posner (The Leadership Challenge).
In many spiritual traditions, the balance of mind, body, and soul are depicted as interlocking elements that are in balance.
Our logo uses three circles representing a company’s Mission, Business, and Organization. The intersection of all three circles is the power center. That point when a company is at peak organizational capacity.
The three elements also represent a holistic way to view opportunities, challenges, and conflicts. Looking at the problem from three different sides makes for better decision making. Does this opportunity fit our mission? What impact will it have on current business operations and goals? What are we asking of our team and what do we need to provide them?
Orange represents energy. We put our passion and energy into every project to exceed expectations and deliver.
Blue represents trust. Trust is the basis of all healthy relationships and it is at the center of our organization.
The name requires an "engineer's answer:" in geometry, the power center of three circles is the intersection point of the three radical axes of the pairs of circles. The power center is the center of a new circle that perpendicularly intersects each of the other circles. It has an important role in geometry solutions and applications in art and design.[1]
